Buying a property in Spain When you have found your ideal property in Spain what is the next step? A holding deposit will be required payable to the agent or lawyer. This can be a smaller reservation fee of 3000 or 10% of the purchase price. At this stage a contract will be provided indicating when the completion will take place. The lawyer you appoint can check over the contract and advise you if any changes need to be made. Completion dates can vary depending on the circumstances but generally between 3 weeks and 3 months. Certain costs and taxes are incurred when purchasing a property in Spain, adding between 10 and 12% on top of the purchase price should be ample to cover all the costs incurred. |
